KC Kid's Round Up!

What do you think of when you smell the popcorn and cotton candy? How about the sound of the rodeo or see the light of the carnival? In Kendall County most of us think about the county fair and the childhood memories we cherish there. It is sad to think of a child in our county not able to create those memories just because of a disability. The KCFA saw this and wanted to make a difference and give back to these wonderful kids. In 2018 KC Cowboy , the KCFA Mascot, and the KCFA Board of Directors created the KC's Kids Program! The Kendall County Fair Association’s KC’s Kids Program started out with our KC's Kids Round Up. The KCFA in conjunction with gracious sponsors and heartwarming volunteers from the Kendall County 4-H made it possible for these children to just be a kid for once and enjoy the fun of the fair at our KC's Kids Round Up! It’s not just any fair but one that is designed and orchestrated exclusively for them by the KCFA. The KC's Kids Round up was such a success the first year, we expand the program in 2019 by doubling the kids in attendance of the KC's Kids Round Up. We also added a scholarship open to one Kendall County special needs child wanting to further their learning after graduation including specialty schools, trade schools, or higher education.
The Kendall County Fair Association is proudly continuing our KC's Kids Round Up this year at the 117th Kendall County Fair. On Thursday morning prior to opening our fair to the public, our directors are geared up to take time out of the extremely hectic schedule to open our gates and hearts to KC’s Kids. We will be putting on special shows, interaction with animals, activities, games and a Cowboy lunch. The Kendall County Fair Association’s mascot, KC Cowboy will be adding to the fun by interacting with the kids throughout the event. The Kendall County 4-h and FFA kids join in the fun and become “Buddies” assigned to each child in the program. We understand that some of these Special Needs children may never get to experience the fair for one reason or another. KC Cowboy and the KCFA Directors want to share their love of our fair and bring a never ending smile to these special children. The previous years were such a great success; we will be expanding our program again this year to over 200 special needs children plus 4-H buddies and volunteers. It is our hope we are able to expand our program every year until every special needs child in Kendall County and surrounding counties may get the opportunity to experience this wonderful program. It is our goal to create life long cherished memories for these cherished kids one fair at a time!
